The eagle eyed of you will be aware that this is a very late announcement of the winners. Apologies!🌈
June’s pet of the month theme was based around dating profile pictures!
We have not just one, but 9 lucky winners!🤩🥳 We had over 230 entries this time round and it’s so hard to choose!😫 Your pets are so beautiful.
We have the gorgeous Lilo the tabby cat who is super chilled, Jarvis the cool dude cocker, Fred showing off his cow wooing skills - the girls go crazy for him, Harry the lab is the more romantic type, smooth collies are just that... smooth, Dexter the dalmatian who tries to entice with his stance, the more chilled out hound for the quieter folk, Isla the chicken is very forward and finally Ralph, who is donning his ‘can I buy you a drink pose?’.😎
Congratulations you gorgeous lot.👏
Thank you to everyone who sent photos in, your animals are incredible.🐾
Last week we had the pleasure of seeing Roly and Chester!🐶 They met for the first time on admission and became pretty good pals in an instant. We’re pretty sure they could have played all day but instead they had to be parted with their testicles!🙊
Getting this handsome pair to sit still for a photo was a mission in itself… one which we failed at.
Here are our attempts to make you smile.🥰
⚠️We are still open Monday-Friday 8.30am-6pm and Saturday 10am-2pm, by appointment only. Our Rugeley branch is still currently closed. Please be patient with our phone lines, we are very busy. If your request is non-urgent, please consider calling us at a later time. We are still following the guidelines and protocols listed in the post pinned to the top of the page. Any updates will be released in due course.
We hope Roly and Chester are doing well at home. Have a lovely week.🐾 ... See MoreSee Less
Doesn't Diamond just make the most beautiful mum?😍😍😍
Diamond visited us in the early hours of Sunday and Monday afternoon struggling with passing her pups. Thanks to Steve, Lewis and the team, she was given a little helping hand with passing a couple and the rest she did all on her own.☺️
She now has 6 healthy pups to keep her (and her owner!) busy!
⚠️Remember we are open 10am-2pm tomorrow but it is still appointment only. Please do not just turn up to the practice.⛔️
Currently, we are open Monday-Friday 8.30am-6pm and Saturday 10am-2pm, by appointment only. Our phone lines are busy and we are still working with reduced staff levels. Our Rugeley branch is still closed. We are still taking social distancing very seriously and ask you respect our staff and notices around the yard.
In light of the announcement of changes from the government last week, we will be updating our clients soon regarding the practice’s protocols, stance on client presence and procedures. Please bear with us.
Until then... meet Helen!☺️
Helen is an RVN who joined team Straitons just before Covid-19 chaos. She’s from just up the road in Great Wyrley! We have welcomed Helen back over the last few weeks to carry on where she left off.
Helen graduated in September last year and loves all things about being a veterinary nurse, but has a keen interest in anaesthesia. She has her dog at home, Amber, her lovely crazy collie cross and loves nothing more than to take her for adventures.
A huge welcome to the practice Helen!🥰 Have a lovely week everyone.🐾 ... See MoreSee Less

❓Sunday’s guess the breed!🐶 Can you guess the breed?? . We have another special guest this week… and we think you’re going to struggle! In all the time of doing ‘Guess the Breed’ you’ve always guessed it! Can we stump you with Shadow??🤔
Shadow is a cross breed.😍 Take a look… can you guess the two breeds??
We met a gentleman on Cannock Chase last week who was slowly walking his elderly dog. The dog was walking slowly too as he was taking time to catch up on the local news. He was quite stiff but had that unmistakable gleam in his eye which said life is still fun. The dog looked like a lab cross and had been an abused rescue in his youth. His age --- 17yrs!!!!!!
Last year while on holiday in Wales we met several elderly dogs including a 22yr old Welsh collie.
If only more of our furry friends could do the same. 💖💖

Leah is going to look through over 200 entries and swoon over all your pets, and come up with the very difficult decision of who will win ⭐️’Pet of the Month’.⭐️ Thank you so much to everyone who took part – we had a massive turn out this time round!
Winner(s) will be announced on July 1st with your gorgeous superstar(s) as our cover photo for the whole of July. Something to cheer everyone up when they come onto our page.🙂
Keep your eyes peeled and good luck! Have a lovely weekend.🐾 ... See MoreSee Less
Please keep an eye on all of your animals... especially if they live outside.
Please don't take your dogs for a walk in this heat. It's not worth it.
We are aware our yard can be quite the suntrap! If you are coming to the practice today, the gazebos are helping with shade and there are plenty of water bowls around. If you find one empty, please don't hesitate to let us know and we'll top it up.
We also have a tap that's come in handy!💦
We love seeing your pets, but we don't want to have to treat them for heatstroke where preventable. Be sensible and be safe.🙏 ... See MoreSee Less
My 3 under fans. They were walked before 5AM this morning
Unfortunately I have seen two poor dogs out on a walk this lunchtime... a small dog at the end of Cherrybrook Drive and a large dog (looked like a rottweiler ) along Wolgarston Way at 12.45pm. Poor dog was panting. It makes my blood boil. Both owners were older men who should know better!
